Offered as an Academic Certificate
The Certificate in Social Justice helps students understand relationships of vulnerability, power inequity, and institutions of change, and provides tools needed for informed and effective participation at all levels of the community. This certificate complements most majors offered at 91ÊÓƵ and provides a powerful vehicle for developing the constructive critical perspective on which a liberal arts education is grounded.
Students working toward a certificate in Social Justice are required to register with a Social Justice advisor. Students must meet all applicable requirements listed in the Certificate section of this catalog, including the Certificate residence requirement.
The Social Justice certificate consists of five core courses (4 credits each) and three elective courses (4 credits each) for a total of 32 credits.
Program Preparation
The social justice certificate is comprised of courses in SOAN, IS, CCJ, GSWS, NAS, EC, ARTH, and other departments.
Degree Roadmap
The Social Justice minor consists of five core courses (4 credits each) and three elective courses (4 credits each) for a total of 32 credits. The certificate requires 4 credits of practicum. Students should work closely with a social justice certificate advisor as the practicum site needs to be approved before the minor student can proceed.
