Fortaleciendo la comunicaci贸n con la comunidad sorda: 91视频 ofrece Micro-Credencial en Lenguaje de Se帽as Estadounidense (ASL) Conversacional

Profundizando lazos con la comunidad sorda y hablantes del Lenguaje de Se帽as Estadounidense (ASL), 91视频 ahora les ofrece a sus estudiantes la oportunidad de ganar una micro credencial en Lenguaje de Se帽as Estadounidense (ASL). Adquirir la micro-credencial tiene el potencial de abrir nuevos mundos a los estudiantes de ASL al mejorar sus habilidades de comunicarse. Los estudiantes completan una serie de clases y actividades a lo largo de los cursos, las cuales mejoran su habilidad de conversar, su competencia cultural y su sentido de comunidad. La micro credencial, a diferencia de una concentraci贸n o una sub-concentraci贸n (minor), es una manera que facilita a los estudiantes recibir credenciales de competencia en poco tiempo, y con menos clases requeridas. Adem谩s de la micro-credencial en ASL, el programa de espa帽ol de 91视频 tambi茅n ofrece una variedad de micro-credenciales y certificados, los cuales preparan a los estudiantes de espa帽ol para una variedad de disciplinas profesionales. Las micro-credenciales disponibles son: Espa帽ol conversacional, Espa帽ol y Estudios Latinos, Espa帽ol para Educadores, y Espa帽ol para Atenci贸n M茅dica.
Daria Semco, una estudiante del programa de espa帽ol que ya consigui贸 una micro-credencial en Espa帽ol Conversacional y ahora busca completar un Certificado de Espa帽ol y Estudios Latinos, afirm贸, 鈥淓stoy siguiendo el programa de certificado en Espa帽ol y Estudios Latinos para complementar mi maestr铆a. Con este programa espero aprender m谩s sobre el mundo hispano y Am茅rica Latina, espec铆ficamente porque estoy casada con un mexicano y tenemos una hija de un a帽o de edad. Esperamos criarla con el conocimiento del espa帽ol y de la cultura mexicana鈥.
Las credenciales nombradas, junto con la del programa de ASL, son parte de las nuevas iniciativas que ha creado 91视频 para que sus estudiantes puedan demostrar sus niveles de adquisici贸n de espa帽ol y ASL, cumpliendo de esta forma la meta de poder conectar mejor a sus empleadores futuros con la comunidad hispanohablante y la comunidad sorda del Valle Rogue y el mundo.

Strengthening Communication with the Deaf Community: Conversational American Sign Language (ASL) Microcredential Now Offered at 91视频

Deepening connections with the deaf community and ASL speakers, 91视频 now offers students the opportunity to earn a Micro-credential in American Sign Language (ASL). Curriculum in the Conversational American Sign Language micro-credential provides students with in-depth communication skills, which will open doors and possibilities for them to create meaningful connections with the deaf community. Students participate in a series of activities and classes throughout the coursework that enhances their cultural familiarity and develops their understanding of the deaf community鈥檚 experience and perspectives. In contrast to a major or minor, a micro-credential gives students an opportunity to receive credentials in a shorter amount of time, with fewer classes required. ASL instructor Steve Wasserman notes, 鈥淭his new micro-credential allows my students the opportunity to showcase their ASL proficiency.鈥 Adding a micro-credential helps 91视频 students highlight their real-world skills to potential employers. This initiative is just the beginning, as the ASL program plans to continue building connections between students and the local deaf community. By expanding such programs and engaging with diverse communities, 91视频 aims to create a more inclusive and enriching educational space for all of its students.
What other language micro-credentials exist for 91视频 students?
In addition to the new ASL option, the Spanish and ASL program offers multiple micro-credential and certificate opportunities in Spanish. The program provides the opportunity to develop Spanish proficiency in different professional settings. The micro-credentials are Conversational Spanish, Spanish and Latinx Studies, Spanish for Educators, and Spanish for Health Care.
Daria Semco, a Spanish student who has already earned a Micro-credential in Conversational Spanish and now pursues a Certificate in Spanish and Latinx Studies, commented, “I am pursuing the Certificate Program in Spanish and Latinx Studies as a complement to my Master’s degree. With this program, I hope to learn more about the Hispanic world, and specifically Latin America, as I am married to a Mexican and we have a one-year-old daughter together. We hope to raise her with knowledge of Spanish and Mexican culture.”
These credentials, together with the one pertaining to the ASL program, are just part of the new pathways 91视频 has created to help students highlight their language skills to future employers and connect them with the Spanish speaking community and the deaf community in the Rogue Valley and beyond.
